Are you someone that likes to plan out things? Do you need to have things scheduled out, sometimes a year in advance? Did you know that often $ave$ you money with travel?

Planning out your vacations for the year, in advance, gives you the opportunity to find the lowest airfare, hotel prices, or cruise rates, because it’s not filled up yet!

Here’s some great places to save on by booking ahead:

Alaska cruises:

Alaska cruises fill up FAST. There’s only a handful of ships that cruise there, PLUS there’s only four and a half months the cruises can get through the ice! That causes the prices to be higher than the Caribbean, which has no issues like ice, or even Asia or Europe. Plan 6-8 months in advance for your Alaskan cruise to get the cheapest rates.

Hawaiian Islands:

There are many hotels in Oahu…but not many on the beach. However, even staying OFF the beach can get costly due to the amount of vacationers on even given day in Waikiki area. The other islands, Maui, Kauai, and Hawaii have VERY LIMITED hotel space and due tend to fill up fast. Best to plan 5-8 months in advance for Hawaiian vacations, even further out if you want one specific hotel.

Europe:

Start watching the airfare to your desired location up to two years in advance, then when a sale happens, 1. you’ll know it’s a good rate, and 2. you’ll be able to purchase at the best you’ve seen so far. Air to Europe is different than air prices in the U.S. There’s seasons, and price dropping doesn’t dip as far on sales like they do within the U.S. They have off season (cheapest time frame) high season (most expensive and desirable time) and shoulder season (a kind of in-between season). Hotels and B&Bs are plentiful, but not always like the hotels we are used to.
